An Olympian at our Assembly!

Well it's not every day you have an Olympic Athlete at your assembly, but we were so lucky to experience this. On Friday 7th October we welcomed our former pupil Marcus Ellis to our assembly. Marcus has been working incredibly hard since leaving school to acheive his dream of competing at the highest level in badminton and represent GB at the Olympic Games. Marcus realised this ambition and represented his country at the Rio Olympics. We are so proud of his achievements and were delighted when he agreed to come and visit us and share his experience. What an inspiration for our community and our pupils here at school.

The Medal

Marcus brought with him his Olympic medal and several children tried it on. It really is heavier that it looks.

Our Gift

Thank you to Mrs Wood's husband who painted a characture for Marcus as our gift to him. We really are proud of all you have achieved.

Shirt Raffle

Generously Marcus has donated three shirts to school. We have decided to give two shirts away to two lucky children who will have the chance to win them in a school raffle. All children will be given a raffle ticket to make the draw as fair as possible and the winning tickets will be pulled out a hat in Celebration Assembly on Friday 14th October. These two shirts are the actual ones worn by Marcus when he won his broze medal at the Rio Games!!! The third shirt will be mounted and framed and hung in our new Marcus Ellis Suite in the mezzanine at Clough Head School. What an inspirational day and a fantastic role model for our future pupils at Clough Head School.
