Play Project at Clough Head

About our Play Project

We are delighted to share that we have recently introduced a new Play Project during breaktimes and lunchtimes for our children.

The project aims to encourage a more active, creative and enjoyable playtime for everyone. Play is such an important part of childhood, and through this initiative we hope to support children in developing their friendships, cooperation, resilience, coordination, creativity and imagination, while most importantly having lots of fun.

We have started by creating different play zones in the playground, giving children a wider range of opportunities for active and imaginative play. As the project develops, we are looking forward to expanding these opportunities into our field and garden spaces during the Summer term.

To support the project, we are making good use of many resources we already have in school. We will also be introducing additional materials that children can use as part of their free and imaginative play, helping to make playtimes even more exciting and engaging for everyone.

We are really excited about the opportunities this project will bring for our children and look forward to seeing their creativity and enjoyment grow during playtime.

Risk taking, and Risk assessment

An important part of our Play Project is encouraging children to experience safe risk-taking during play. Opportunities to explore, test ideas and challenge themselves help children to develop confidence, independence and resilience. All activities and resources are carefully considered to ensure that children can take appropriate risks in a safe and supportive environment. These approaches are fully outlined in our Play Project risk assessment, which explains how we balance safety with valuable learning experiences through play.
